[Note: this post is part of a series of live updates chronicling the Grammy experience for first-time nominee Gungor.]

Los Angeles is getting more crowded by the minute, and the Gungors are doing their part. Michael and Lisa Gungor and their baby arrived this afternoon, and – good news! – Lisa’s dress arrived with them. The gang then met extended family also in town for the festivities, adding to the group that will eventually total 11.

Dinner was at Truxton’s (shrimp tacos and BLTs), followed by an unexpected scenic route through L.A. The Gungors found a rented condo to stay in, but were surprised to learn that payment had to be in cash. Manager Calvin Nowell called me during the ensuing search for the right bank. Sounds like it was two cars trying unsuccessfully to follow one another and inadvertently winding up on the seedier side of the city.

Tomorrow is the big day, and it will start early. The band is part of a benefit at the Dream Center, Matthew Barnett’s church in the inner city. The list is pretty extraordinary for a single Sunday morning worship service: Israel Houghton, Lecrae, Kirk Whalum, Lalah Hathaway, VaShawn Mitchell, forever Jones, and Gungor.

After church and more arrivals, there’s the pre-telecast, the telecast, and the after-parties. Calvin picked up the tickets earlier today, and the group is excited.

Photos and plenty more news coming tomorrow.
