Her new album, “Not Myself Anymore,” would make a perfect stocking stuffer for family and friends!
What’s your favorite?
– Christmas food: My mom’s chocolate chip coffee cake. We eat it on Christmas morning. Any time you can eat dessert for breakfast is fine with me!
– Christmas tradition: We read through the story of Christ’s birth every year as a family. I’m thankful that my parents prioritized the value of Christmas to us as the recipients of Christ’s sacrifice, and I look forward to our daughter Lorelei sharing this special moment with us as she grows.
– Christmas carol: “O Holy Night,” although that is a difficult one to sing. There are some hilariously bad versions out there, but what a powerful song!
– Christmas album: Diana Krall’s “Christmas Songs”
– Christmas movie: Elf!
What do you enjoy most about Christmas?
I love that for the most part, it puts everyone is such a giving and cheerful state of mind. As a Christian, I love celebrating the heritage of the birth of my Savior and having a chance to rejoice in that and share that with others!
Share one of your favorite Christmas memories.
Two years ago on the day after Thanksgiving, we found out we were expecting our daughter (the first grandchild for both sets of parents). Somehow, we kept it a secret until Christmas. On Christmas morning, I wrapped up the ultrasound photo and we gave it to my mom and dad. My husband Jordan was discreetly taking video with his iPhone. The iPhones were Christmas presents, so you can hear my techy brother in the background trying to give Jordan pointers on using the video camera, totally oblivious to what is happening. It was a really exciting moment for everyone and so much fun to surprise my parents! Although, I totally set myself up to never be able to top that Christmas gift.
Are you the type of person who likes to peek at your presents before Christmas morning, or do you hold out?
I am anti-peeking! Why would you want to know what you’re getting!? I hate waiting, but I love surprises.
What do you want for Christmas this year?
An iPad and a nanny to come on the road with us full-time. Totally reasonable. 🙂
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas?
We have a few weeks off the road and we’ll get to spend Christmas Day with my family. As our little family grows, we’ll start our own Christmas Day traditions at home, so I’m looking forward to spending this year with the Christmas traditions I grew up with!
What are your plans for 2012?
Our calendar is already getting filled up with tour dates so we’ll be on the road a lot. I’m also working on my initial plans for my next album so next year is already shaping up to be a busy one!
