‘Tis the Season for our annual Christmas Countdown with various artists! We recently caught up with Hawk Nelson, The Letter Black and All Things New to learn some of their favorite Christmas memories and traditions.
What do you enjoy most about Christmas?
Daniel Biro (Hawk Nelson): In recent years it’s gone from loving that “Christmas feeling” to loving the reason we even have a Christmas. The act of love displayed by God, giving us such a huge gift, His only son. It’s an incredibly selfless act. A beautiful story that ultimately saves me from myself.
Sarah Anthony (The Letter Black): The decorations are so beautiful and that makes me happy as well as hearing Christmas carols in stores. I also love spending time with family on Christmas day.
Garrett Hornbuckle (All Things New): Well, Christmas is my favorite so I basically enjoy everything about the season. Love the lights, weather, food … but most importantly, being around friends and family.
Share one of your favorite Christmas memories.
Daniel Biro: Definitely the year my parents caved and got my siblings and me the original Nintendo game system. It came with Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. We all sat around and played / learned together. Today, I’m not much of a gamer, but I’ll never forget that one Christmas morning that my family dabbled in gaming history.
Sarah Anthony: Growing up, my family would always read the story of Jesus’ birth in the Bible before opening gifts.
Garrett Hornbuckle: Probably when I went sledding down Tiger Hill in Tennessee during Christmas time and a newspaper writer was there and took picture of us sledding. We were on the front page the next day!

Are you the type of person who likes to peek at your presents before Christmas morning, or do you hold out?
Daniel Biro: I like to be surprised, though it’s almost impossible, it can still happen. Honestly, gifts would not be considered my “love language”… But time spent with those you love, that’s always a pleasant surprise when it comes together.
Sarah Anthony: When I was little, I would carefully open a gift and then tape it shut again. So impatient!
Garrett Hornbuckle: As a kid I always wanted to know and peek, but now as I get older, I like the surprise.
What do you want for Christmas this year?
Daniel Biro: A 12 ft, beautiful, real Spruce Tree. Think Chevy Chase…
Sarah Anthony: A leopard print throw blanket from Pier 1 Imports.
Garrett Hornbuckle: I really want a watch … been trying to find one, but haven’t had any luck.
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas?
Daniel Biro: Having all my immediate family over for a night at our new house. It will be the first time in at least a decade.
Sarah Anthony: My son is almost 2 years old and we’re going to let him open all of our gifts. He’s going to be so excited!
Garrett Hornbuckle: Just being around loved ones and spending time with them.
What are your plans for 2014?
Daniel Biro: Big plans. We don’t always know exactly what they look like, but God says He has plans to prosper us. We believe this will be a year of creativity and big things! Check back next year for the recap!
Sarah Anthony: Tour, tour, tour.
Garrett Hornbuckle: Looking forward to our tour in the spring with Franny and Sanctus Real. So I guess that’s a start to look forward to in 2014!
