MandisaWhether she is preparing for a concert or enjoying a day off, Grammy Award-winning recording artist Mandisa realizes the importance of preparing herself for each day by studying God’s Word and protecting against the elements of spiritual warfare.

“God has been teaching me a lot lately,” Mandisa said. “The first thing that comes to mind is that we are in spiritual warfare. As followers of Christ, we are not of this world. We are made for Heaven. We have to recognize the power of the enemy and that he is the great accuser of the brethren and the father of lies. But we also have to recognize that the enemy has already been defeated. Satan knows that he has already been defeated, that’s why he is coming against followers of Christ so much.

“I’ve been learning about how God has armed us for battle. I love 2 Chronicles 20 where King Jehosophat and the Israelites are coming up against a powerful army and he puts his worshippers on the frontline. The Bible says that as they were worshipping that their enemy got confused and started fighting one another. I love that because I think that God is showing there is power in our worship. There are so many worship songs on my album Overcomer because I wanted to proclaim that as we are facing battles, we are still going to worship God.”

The armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20)

“As we continue to worship despite our circumstances, I think the enemy gets confused and defeated. That’s the biggest lesson I’m learning right now. I put on the armor every single day.

I put on the helmet of salvation, and I guard my thoughts and tongue.

I put on the breastplate of righteousness and proclaim that I’m going to live in a way that honors God.

I put on the belt of truth by proclaiming that I’m going to live according to the truth of God and not believing the lies of the enemy.

I put on my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. I say to God that I am an ambassador for Him and want to be used that day to plead to others on His behalf and that I will be guided by His peace.

I put on the shield of faith and I know that I am extinguishing the fiery darts of the enemy with it by trusting God.

I put on the sword of the spirit which is His Word, and I ask God to bring His Word into remembrance throughout the day and when I’m tempted to help me fight battles with His Word.

By putting on the armor daily, I recognize that I’m equipped for battle and I have the victory over anything that comes against me.”
