Finding FavourNew Gotee Records band Finding Favour just released their full-length debut, Reborn. The album features their current single, “Cast My Cares,” as well as a reprise of their introductory hit, “Say Amen.” (Download the album here.) Lead singer Blake NeeSmith took time out from promoting the group’s new album to answer these six questions:

1. How did you come up with your band name?

Proverbs 3… It says if we live by God’s words and commandments, we’ll find favor with God and man.

2. Your current single, “Cast My Cares,” is climbing the charts. What’s the one worry you find yourself having to surrender on a regular basis?

Comparison. The constant thoughts of: Am I good enough to deserve what I have? Will I ever accomplish what others are doing, etc.? I have to lay that down constantly and understand that the only person I should try to be better than is the person I was yesterday.

3. There’s a tinge of country/southern storytelling to your sound and lyrical direction. Do you consider yourselves storytellers?

We come from a long line of storytellers. We definitely know how to shoot the breeze, if you will.

4. “Be Like You” is a great Father’s Day song. What’s the story behind it?

About 17 months ago, I was on the way to the hospital with my wife to have our little girl. I started thinking about all the things that I’ve messed up in my life and asked God to please not let my relationship with my daughter be one of those things. I wrote this song to deal with the struggle of leading our children and being led by our Heavenly Father so that we [can] lead them to Him.

5. What is your most favorite thing about touring?

Creating new relationships with so many new people. There are amazing people out there, and we get to meet them often.

6. What three words would you use to describe your music?

Honest. Emotional. Anointed.
