Pop artist Matt Price is slated to release his second EP, Dream, Feb. 10. The five original tracks that comprise his sophomore set stem from a time of transition as Matt and his wife made the move from their hometown of Atlanta, Ga., to Nashville, Tenn., to pursue Price’s dream of music. Ahead of the EP’s release, Matt–who produced and co-wrote all of the album’s tracks–breaks down Dream song by song.
Dreams tell us something about ourselves. They provide a glimpse, a clue of who we were made to be. That passion and desire was put in our hearts by the Maker of the stars, the Creator of the universe himself: “For I know the plans,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). “Dream” is an invitation to do just that—dream with the Maker. What stirs your heart? What makes you come alive? “The glory of God is man fully alive.” — St. Irenaeus
It is so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind and busyness of life. It can often be overwhelming. “Every Moment” is an anthem to chase after the things that really matter. To slow down, take a deep breath, and bask in the beauty around us. It’s a call to cherish our loved ones and to appreciate every single breath we’ve been given.
The world tries to define beauty as a number on the scale, the latest fashion trend, or some other superficial measurement. But that’s not what the Father says. You were made in the image of a beautiful God. In Psalm 27, David says, “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.” Our God is a beautiful God. Just look at a sunset. Majestic purples, reds, and oranges are painted across the sky every single evening. It’s simply stunning. And those same hands that craft every sunset made you. You were made with purpose and intentionality. You are amazing just the way you are. You are beautiful now.
“Falling Into You”
There are times in life where we have to face our fears, where we have to set off on a journey and leave everything we’ve known behind—the comfort of our jobs, families, and homes. In these seasons, we are never asked to take that journey alone. God promises to walk with us every step of the way. There is an immense amount of comfort and confidence that comes from knowing that when we take that leap of faith, He will catch our hearts.
Psalm 91 says, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” We are living in the middle of a world at war—a spiritual war. Two kingdoms are clashing against one another; there is a battle between Heaven and Earth. The arrows of the enemy are daunting and can paralyze us with fear, anxiety, and doubt. But He is our refuge, our safest place to hide. He is the one who goes before us and clears the path for us. There is nothing to fear, as we are under His protection.
